Washington returned to the hardwood on Friday, kicking off their 2022-23 season halfway across the world. The Wizards fell to the Golden State Warriors, 96-87, on Friday in Japan, the first of two exhibition games the clubs will play in Saitama.

The two-game exhibition slate carries extra meaning for Wizards' forward Rui Hachimura, who was born in Toyoma, Japan, and is part of the Japanese national team. Hachimura scored a team-high 13 points to go along with nine rebounds on Friday. No other Wizards player reached double figures.
